How the range is organised

Measurement type first, diaphragm seals as a dedicated configuration

Gauge / Differential / Absolute / Multivariable

These pages cover standard transmitter versions and explain platform selection according to measurement and performance requirements.

With diaphragm seals

PGD, PAD, PDD and CR/JR multivariable versions with remote seals are covered separately because the seal is a substantial part of system sizing.

Gauge / Relative

P-100, P-300 or P-500?

Selection involves more than accuracy: process conditions, budget, options, materials and availability also matter.

Essential

PGS100 / PGP100 / PGF100

0.25% → 0.075%

An economical range for standard applications. PGS100 mainly addresses water and general applications; PGP100 is dedicated to pulp and paper; PGF100 to hygienic food and pharmaceutical applications.

High performance · upcoming

PGS500

0.04% / 0.025%

A high-performance range, typically for oil and gas and chemical applications. Commercial availability is expected shortly.

Differential

PDS300 and PDS500

Industrial

PDS300

For OEMs, energy, filters, level measurement and standard DP applications. The natural evolution of the 266DSH performance class.

High performance · upcoming

PDS500

The top-range version for applications requiring greater performance, succeeding the 266MST performance class.

Absolute

PAS100 and PAS300

The ABB P-300/P-500 manual includes PAS500; availability and configuration must be checked.

Essential

PAS100

An economical standard range for absolute pressure measurements where the higher industrial platform is unnecessary.

Industrial

PAS300

An industrial range for more demanding absolute pressure applications. Earlier 264/265 absolute families are normally directed towards this platform.

Remote seals

Direct-mounted seal or remote capillary?

Direct mounting

Where practical, it is preferable metrologically: it reduces fill-fluid volume and limits the influence of ambient temperature changes.

Remote seal

Useful when geometry, access, temperature or plant configuration requires the transmitter to be separated from the measurement point. Equal capillary lengths are recommended for differential measurements with two remote seals.

Typical example: tank level can be measured with a differential transmitter directly sealed to the lower connection and its low-pressure side referenced to atmosphere. Other applications require two remote seals.
ABB replacements

Migrating older models

The mappings identify the current reference family. The full model code is still needed to define an equivalent configuration.

Technical FAQ

Questions we are often asked

What replaces an ABB 261GS?

261 gauge families are normally migrated to ABB P-100. The exact model must still be defined from the full code, serial number or nameplate.

What replaces an ABB 264GS or 265GS?

264 and 265 gauge families are normally directed towards ABB P-300. The exact configuration must be verified against the full code.

What are the modern equivalents of ABB 266HSH and 266GST?

266HSH broadly corresponds to the PGS300 class, while 266GST corresponds to the top PGS500 class.

Which new series replaces ABB 266DSH or 266MST?

266DSH is normally migrated to PDS300; 266MST belongs to the PDS500 performance class.

What replaces an ABB 261AS?

261 absolute families are normally directed towards PAS100. 264/265 and later absolute families are normally directed towards PAS300 or PAD300 where a seal is fitted.

Is the model ABB 264DS enough to identify a replacement?

No. Correct identification requires the full code, serial number or a clear nameplate photograph.

Direct seal or remote capillary?

Where practical, direct mounting is preferable for accuracy and stability. Longer capillaries contain more fill fluid and can be more sensitive to ambient temperature changes. The final choice depends on installation and process conditions.

Should capillaries have equal lengths for differential measurement with two remote seals?

Equal lengths are recommended to reduce differential effects from temperature and fill-fluid columns.
